WASHOE COUNTY NEWS RELEASE
The Washoe County Human Resources Department has a new leader as of this week. John Listinsky is the new human resources/labor relations director at Washoe County, coming most recently from Manitowoc, Wis.
Listinsky was selected after interviews with panels that included employee representatives, department heads and community members from the human resources profession.
He has more than 30 years of experience, most recently as the director of human resources for the Global Human Resources Operation of Thermo Fisher Scientific in Wisconsin. He also had two three-year tenures as a human resources director following 21 years as a labor relations and HR executive with the Anheuser-Busch companies.
Most of Listinsky’s experience comes from the private sector, but he also spent six years with the Service Employees International Union in the Northern California region.
Listinsky’s educational background includes an M.S. in industrial and labor relations from Cornell University and a B.A. in economics and political science from the University of Wisconsin.
Washoe County Manager Katy Simon says, “John’s outstanding experience and his commitment to solving challenges collaboratively make him a great fit for our region and our team at this critical time. We are delighted to welcome him.”
Listinsky will be stepping into this combined position that merged the labor relations manager with the HR director, which has been vacant since November of last year. Simon says the annual savings from combining the human resources and labor relations director at the county is $124,000 a year.
