Big Brothers Big Sisters’ young professionals committee to host charity poker night

Date:

The Young Professionals Committee (YPC) of Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Northern Nevada will host its inaugural charity poker tournament on Friday, June 29, at 7pm at the Grand Sierra Resort Poker
Room. Registration begins at 6pm.

This is the first major fundraising event hosted by the newly formed YPC. The group’s mission is to combine their professional strengths to raise awareness, grow donations and recruit more Bigs (Mentors) for the Big Brothers Big Sisters of Northern Nevada.

“We are excited to host our first major charity event for Big Brothers Big Sisters,” said Rich Williamson, of the BBBSNN YPC. “The YPC is a talented group and we are all passionate about positively affecting kids in our area. The program needs donations in order to continue to offer the mentoring services.”

The BBBSNN uses donations to recruit new big brother and big sister volunteers, cover the costs of background checks, and enable continuous supervision and relationship support for every Big, Little (Mentee) and Little’s family members.

The BBBSNN also pursues fundraising activities to train professionals and properly match Littles to Bigs. The BBBSNN YPC is seeking a $50 donation for tournament buy-in. All proceeds will go directly to BBBSNN. Players will receive $1,000 in tournament chips, and the tournament winner will receive a $500 cash prize. Consolation and raffle prizes are also up for grabs. No pre-registration is required and participants may purchase tickets at the tournament.
