Bully’s #10, Spanish Springs, acts as new venue for annual fundraiser
Bully’s Sports Bar & Grill hosts the 13th annual benefit for the Society to Prevent Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) of Northern Nevada – Bully’s Chihuahua Races – Saturday, May 5 from 9 a.m. – 8 p.m. and Sunday, May 6 from 12 – 6 p.m. at Bully’s #10 in Spanish Springs. Come watch the free annual event, as Bully’s crowns the “top dog” in classes including “Chihuahua,” “non-Chihuahua” and “Best Costume.” Donations are accepted throughout the weekend on behalf of the SPCA and the first race takes place at 10 a.m. Saturday.
Each year, more than 130 participating Chihuahuas race head-to-head on a straight, 40-foot course during a best-of-three heat race. Heat winners advance tournament-style into Sunday’s final rounds at 12 p.m. Bully’s also offers “open class” races for all non-Chihuahua’s small enough to fit on the course starting at 3 p.m. Sunday, May 2. Sunday’s schedule also includes doggie costume contests with prizes including gift certificates, dog treats, and toys.
In addition to fun-filled Chihuahua racing action, Bully’s patrons can also enjoy $2.50 Bud and Bud Light pints, $3.50 Cuervo shots and $2 authentic beef tacos throughout the weekend – a perfect kick off to Cinco de Mayo celebrations.
