The Reno Chamber Orchestra performs with the University of Nevada, Reno Chamber Singers on Saturday, April 14 at 8:00 p.m. and Sunday, April 15 at 2:00 p.m. at UNR’s Nightingale Concert Hall.

In the last concerts of the Orchestra’s 2011-12 season, RCO music director Theodore Kuchar leads the UNR Chamber Singers (Dr. Paul Torkelson, director) in the Requiem in C minor by Luigi Cherubini. This Requiem, written in 1816, was a particular favorite of Ludwig van Beethoven, and was performed at Beethoven’s own funeral service.

Also featured at these concerts is cellist Matthew Linaman, the winner of the Reno Chamber Orchestra’s 23rd annual College Concerto Competition. The only one of its kind in the state of Nevada, the College Concerto Competition gives college students the chance to compete for cash prizes and the opportunity to perform with the RCO. Mr. Linaman, a Reno native currently studying at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music, will perform Franz Josef Haydn’s Cello Concerto in C major.

Ticket prices for these concerts range from $20 to $40 for adults, and everyone eighteen and younger (and all full-time students) can attend for $5.

Tickets and more information are available at RenoChamberOrchestra.org or by calling (775) 348-9413.
