SUBMITTED NEWS RELEASE
As a way to prevent bullying and the negative effects it has on the region’s youth, Flip the Script, a statewide anti-bullying initiative, has partnered with the Reno Aces. The partnership encourages northern Nevadans to join the fight against bullying through participation in community activities and education. The partnership kicks off on Monday, April 30 when the Reno Aces host a “Flip the Script Day in the Park.”
The first of many initiatives, the “Day in the Park” will feature Flip the Script ambassadors, Reno Aces’ athletes and local students who will introduce campaign initiatives and encourage the community to take a stand against bullying. Community members will have the opportunity to interact with ambassadors and learn how they can get involved in starting initiatives at local schools and youth-based organizations. The Reno Aces will also air a series of videos, played at all home games, featuring athletes talking about anti-bullying.
“Because of the phenomenal support from our partners like the Reno Aces, the Flip the Script campaign is able to continue its mission to engage students, parents, and teachers to actively participate in making schools a place where kids can learn free of fear,” said Cindy Dreibelbis, executive director of the R&R Partners Foundation, which created the “Flip the Script” campaign. “Events like these allow the anti-bullying movement to evolve from an awareness campaign to activation, where communities are fully engaged in changing the script on bullying.”
According to Dreibelbis, adults are also a key audience for the campaign as their increased awareness will help to decrease bullying incidents in Nevada schools. “It’s so important for adults to be positive mentors and our partnership with the Reno Aces is a great example of adults taking action to support the region’s youth,” she said.
“The anti-bullying movement is an initiative our organization takes very seriously, and we’re excited to partner with Flip the Script this season. Our players are committed to supporting the movement, and we’re confident that we can do our part to make a positive impact in the fight against bullying throughout northern Nevada,” said Amanda Alling, Reno Aces manager of promotions and community development.
The National Education Association notes bullying affects nearly 30 percent of school-aged youth on a monthly basis. Each day thousands of students intentionally miss school because they fear being bullied. Flip the Script and the Reno Aces hope to dramatically reduce these statistics by engaging the community and sharing resources on how to start anti-bullying campaigns.

Flip the Script
R&R Partners, together with partner organizations throughout Nevada, has created the “Flip the Script” campaign to provide resources to parents, students and educators on how to combat bullying in Nevada. In addition to a variety of print and broadcast materials, the campaign has designed curriculum for implementation by Nevada schools during the “Week of Respect” as declared by Governor Sandoval. The campaign has received incredible support from local and state government, as well as a growing number of partner entities. Further information can be found at www.flipthescriptnow.org.
