Reno Blues Society presents The Lionel Young Band

Date:

The Reno Blues Society is proud to present the Lionel Young Band in CARGO@CommRow on Friday, July 6th, 2012.

Its violin meets the Blues as the RBS brings the Lionel Young Band to Reno for an evening of his upbeat Boogie Woogie blues! Come dance the night away and enjoy this winner of the 2008 International Blues Challenge (IBC) in Memphis. He’s got a hot ripping band with some horns and harp to back him up. They have a big band feel that is sure to get you jumping! Please help the RBS in welcoming this rare appearance by the Lionel Young Band – it’s not every day you get an opportunity to experience a world class blues violin virtuoso.

Lionel has played in concerts with Count Basie, Stevie Wonder, Jimmy Paige/Robert Plant, and Johnny Long. They released their first CD – As the Sun Goes Down – in December 1997 and received excellent reviews regionally & nationally. Lionel has also won: The Young Artist Award -Pittsburgh Symphony, and Westword’s Best of Denver 1989. In 1992 he won a position with the Denver Chamber Orchestra and premiered a solo piece by William Hill.

Opening will be the Jason King Band who’s been to the IBC representing Reno the past 2 years in a row. He’s a high energy guitar slinger with a solid band that you won’t want to miss.

Cargo is located on the 3rd floor of CommRow (255 N. Virginia Ave, Reno). It’s a non-smoking venue, open to all ages with a large dance floor, full bar, and a wonderful stage with state of the art sound & lighting. Please help us make this a successful event for the RBS in keepin the blues alive!
