Registration now open for “Mt Rose Drinks Best Bartender of Northern Nevada” contest
Mt. Rose Premium Cocktail Mixes presents the “Mt Rose Drinks Best Bartender of Northern Nevada” contest May 9 at Bully’s #7 on Robb Drive in Reno. Registration forms may be picked up at any Bully’s location or at Total Wine, located at 6671 South Virginia Street in Reno. Registration packets are also available for download at www.MtRoseDrinks.com or www.facebook.com/
Bartenders and cocktail enthusiasts of all types are encouraged to register for the event by submitting a favorite recipe utilizing at least one Mt. Rose Premium Cocktail Mixer, available at Total Wine and More. Paper registrations are due no later than Tuesday, May 7 and must include the cocktail recipe and a photo of the finished product. During the competition, each bartender is given five minutes to prepare his or her drink. All base spirits, mixers and garnishes are provided and no homemade products or garnishes are allowed. All drinks must contain at least one Mt. Rose Mixer and base liquors provided are Grey Goose Vodka and Patron Tequila.
After creation of the cocktail, each drink is critiqued by a panel of judges as well as by the audience, who is able to purchase the finished product during the event. The scoring for the winning cocktails is as follows: presentation (10 percent); taste (30 percent); ease of preparation (10 percent); and sales (50 percent).
Winner of the Best Cocktail Grand Prize receives bragging rights to the drink and the “Mt. Rose Best Bartender” plaque to display at his or her establishment until next year’s competition when it is awarded to the 2013 winner. The winner also receives a prize package including an Apple iPad, $500 and more.
