Highly Anticipated Fundraising Event Expected to Sell Out

Junior League of Reno presents the first annual Kentucky Derby Day – Juleps, Jockeys and Jazz – at Hidden Valley Country Club Saturday, May 5, 2012, from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. With limited tickets available, the major fundraising event is expected to sell out, creating a much anticipated launch to the organization’s new fundraising initiative.

Open to the general public, the derby event will feature a live running of the Kentucky Derby horse race and a southern-style lunch buffet complete with bourbon balls and pecan pie. Additionally, attendees will enjoy a cigar and jazz tent, Junior League-style horse betting, northern Nevada’s first derby fashion show and a chance to win the Junior League’s Derby Hat Contest.

A silent auction will also highlight the region’s finest with gifts including golf play and stay at Old Greenwood in Truckee; a Peppermill Resort Package with stay, spa and dining; wine tasting for 20 at Total Wine in Reno; a private tour and wine tasting with winemaker Brad Warner at Sawyer Cellars in Napa; and various spa, restaurant and merchant packages.
