CARSON VALLEY INN NEWS RELEASE

The Carson Valley Inn features ongoing nightly free live entertainment in the Cabaret Lounge with no cover charge and no drink minimum. Special concerts are also held in the Valley Ballroom with the next event on May 18, 19 and 20 featuring the Lettermen. Cabaret Lounge entertainment hours are Sunday through Wednesday from 6:00 to 10 p.m., Thursday from 8:00 p.m. to midnight and Friday and Saturday from 8:00 p.m. to 1 a.m.

 

Dale Poune: April 22 – 25: Dale plays guitar, dobro, mandolin and bass. An accomplished vocalist with a variety of musical styles, he has performed with the Fortunes, Buddy Miles, The Coasters and The Drifters – and is currently working with Lacy J. Dalton.

 

Melissa Dru, April 26 – 28: Singer and songwriter Melissa Dru has performed at Carnegie Hall in New York and at the Royal Albert Hall in London. Melissa and her band cover a wide mix including classic rock, R&B and a bit of country; everything from Pink Floyd to patsy Cline. A natural performer and entertainer, Melissa will delight you with her unique vocal style and sense of fun. Don’t miss this popular songbird in action!

 

Steve Lord, April 29 – May 2:  Playing guitar and offering dynamic vocals, Steve is a main stage performer on the west coast. Known as the man of a thousand songs, Steve presents an evening of oldies, country, pop, blues, jazz, soul and rock & roll.

 

Dueling Pianos Anywhere, May 3: This is the #1 rated Dueling Pianos Show in the country and they are appearing in the CVI Cabaret Lounge with no cover and no minimum! Dueling Pianos Anywhere features Kirk Garrett and Troy Baldwin in the only real “All-Request” Dueling Pianos show playing directly from guest requests and not a canned preplanned show. These two talented piano entertainers have performed thousands of all-request shows at casinos, corporate events, colleges, universities, hotels and conventions and private events. Don’t miss this exceptional treat right here in the Carson Valley – one extended and power-packed show from 7 to 9 p.m.!

 

Felix and the Soul Cats, May 3 – 5: Felix Odion, founder of Felix and the Soul Cats describes the band as good friends playing great music: soul, rhythm & blues and classic/contemporary blues. Joining Felix is Omar Martinez who performed for 34 years with Paul Revere and the Raiders as drummer and then lead singer. Michael Kelly on bass guitar has played with the Drifters and keyboardist Jimmy Malone’s gifted talents have landed him work with The Temptation’s David Ruffin, Percy Sledge, The Drifters, The Platters, Funkingrovin and Mercy Me.

Steppen Stonz, May 10 – 12: Steppen Stonz performs Broadway tunes, oldies, Motown and pop – an array of musical styles that appeals to most musical tastes. The core of the group is the two lead vocalists, Michael Hill and Arthur Hayden, who started in college and have been performing together uninterrupted for over 30 years.

 

Paul Covarelli, May 13 – 16:  Veteran musician Paul Covarelli is a talented guitarist and vocalist. He started the group Jo Mama over 20 years ago and also plays with other groups in the area covering jazz, swing, blues, Latin and more styles.

 

Stew Stewart, May 17 – 19: A Stew Stewart show has something for everyone including country music, blues, oldies, comedy, classic rock, Motown and just plain ol’ fun – with a few surprises, too!  A Nevada entertainer for over four decades, Stew has appeared as the opening act for artists such as Johnny Cash, Merle Haggard, Waylon Jennings, Tammy Wynette, Loretta Lynn, Marie Osmond, Herman’s Hermits, The Drifters, The Coasters, Willie Nelson, Kenny Rogers, Dolly Parton, The Oak Ridge Boys and more!  Stew’s band is a show in itself and they will be joined by Stew for his performances at 8 p.m. Thursday and at 8 and 10 p.m. on Friday and Saturday.


 

The Lettermen will perform in the up-close setting of the Valley Ballroom on Friday through Sunday, May 18 – 20. Their hits have been numerous including Goin’ Out Of My Head/Can’t Take My Eyes Off You, Hurt So Bad, Theme From “A Summer Place”, The Way You Look Tonight, When I Fall In Love, Graduation Day, Shangri-la and many more that have shaped the nostalgia years of many baby boomers. Among 32 consecutive albums which charted in the Top 100 in the United States, four were certified gold. The Lettermen are currently Tony Butala (founding member), Donovan Tea and Bobby Poynton. George Pickard, May 20 – 23:  George is an accomplished performer, believable impressionist, captivating entertainer and successful song writer. He co-wrote “What Did You Do with Your Old Forty Fives” for Bobby Vinton and he backed up many acts from the fifties and sixties including The Shirelles, The Diamonds and The Platters. He was also one of the Kingsmen (Louie, Louie) for awhile. George has played the Fillmore in San Francisco with acts such as Santana, Big Brother and the Holding Company and Jefferson Airplane.

 

The Carson Valley Inn (www.carsonvalleyinn.com) is located on US Highway 395 in Minden, NV near the start of State Highway 88, twenty minutes from Lake Tahoe’s south shore and 45 minutes south of Reno.  The property includes a recently-remodeled casino and 150-room hotel, 74-room motor lodge, 59-site RV Park, free nightly entertainment in the Cabaret Lounge and a convenience store with Shell gas and diesel fuel.  Three dining facilities include Katie’s (recently remodeled), Job’s Perk and CV Steak, a Nevada-style steakhouse featuring steaks, seafood, chicken, pasta and more.
