The Boys & Girls Club of Truckee Meadows will accept sign-ups beginning May 1 for exciting summer programs, field trips, specialty camps and more at a seven sites throughout northern Nevada. Kids and teens from throughout the region are invited to join in the fun. Summer camp enrollees get all-day fun, meals included, supervised by adults who make it a priority to keep the entertainment rolling for 11 unforgettable weeks from 7 a.m. until 6 p.m. June 11- Aug. 24.
Summer camp sites include: The Donald W. Reynolds Facility (9th Street), the Neil Road Youth Site, the Joe Mitchell Community Center in Lemmon Valley, Rollan Melton Elementary School, Verdi Elementary School, and, catering to the under-6-year-olds, the E.L. Wiegand Early Learning Center across from Reno High School. Camp is also offered at Fernley Intermediate School (Fernley hours are 6 a.m.-6 p.m. daily).
All summer Club members take part in organized activities ranging from sports and art, to singing, dance and computers. Frequent field trips allow kids to visit places like the Nevada Discovery Museum, Wild Island Family Adventure Park, movies, Coconut Bowl and more. And throughout the summer, the Club also features specialty summer camp experiences focusing on activities as diverse as robotics, drumming, puppetry, science, fitness and more. For a traditional sleep away camp experience, the Club again offers free spots to a limited number of kids and teens at Marge’s Camp in Graeagle, Calif., while Club Kids’ College introduces future scholars to collegiate life on the University of Nevada campus.
