Participants at last year’s Lake Tahoe Polar Plunge® at Zephyr Cove, NV.

Community invited to Special Olympics Polar Plunge® 2012

Hundreds of brave souls, many dressed in crazy costumes, are jumping into Lake Tahoe this Saturday as part of the 2012 Polar Plunge®, co-hosted by Special Olympics Northern California and Nevada. The community is invited to participate in the festivities, which will include entertainment, a costume contest, and prizes, as well as Special Olympics athletes, coaches, and volunteers who will share their experiences with the organization’s inspiring programs.

The Plunge® is a national event held across the U.S. and supported locally by many law enforcement officers, businesses, and individuals. Funds raised during the event are used to help our region’s athletes get the training, equipment, and other items needed to compete in the free, year-round programs.

Registration for the Polar Plunge® begins at 10:00 a.m. March 17 at Zephyr Cove Marina, 760 U.S. Hwy 50 Zephyr Cove, NV. For more information about attending this year’s event, or registering to take the plunge, visit www.iPolarPlungeNV.com.
