James Winn, Theodore Kuchar and the RCO Saturday & Sunday

Date:

James Winn, one of Reno’s most beloved musicians, performs with the Reno Chamber Orchestra and Maestro Theodore Kuchar this Saturday, March 3 at 8:00 p.m. and Sunday, March 4 at 2:00 p.m. at UNR’s Nightingale Concert Hall.

Tickets are still available for both concerts. You can buy them online or by calling the RCO at (775) 348-9413. Read more, including program notes, at the RCO website.

Dr. Winn is a featured performer at the RCO’s annual Nevada Chamber Music Festival, professor at the University of Nevada, Reno, and a member of Argenta, UNR’s resident chamber ensemble. He has made over three dozen CDs and been involved in world premieres and premiere recordings by 13 Pulitzer Prize winners.

On the program this weekend:

* The overture to what was one of the most popular operas of the late eighteenth century (Cimarosa’s Overture to Il matrimonio segreto)
* One of Mozart’s greatest and most enduring works (the Piano Concerto No. 25)
* A concerto that embodies the artistic foment and adventuresome spirit of the lively 1920s (Hindemith’s Kammermusik No. 2)
* Tune-filled music by the composer of Carmen (Bizet’s music from L’Arlesienne)

An extra bonus when you attend – you’ll be among the first to find out about the RCO’s exciting 2012-13 season, which will be formally announced this weekend!

Come a little early and hear James Winn and Theodore Kuchar discuss the featured music at informative pre-concert talks, starting 50 minutes before each performance in Nightingale Concert Hall.
