Give Back Like Jack Food and Sporting Goods Drive benefits northern Nevada community

Date:

SUBMITTED NEWS RELEASE

The Boys & Girls Club of Truckee Meadows, a partner in the “Give Back Like Jack” community pride campaign, hosts the Give Back Like Jack Food and Sporting Goods Drive from March 5-9 at the Club’s Donald W. Reynolds Facility, located at 2680 E. 9th Street in Reno.

Non-perishable food items along with new (preferably packaged) sporting goods will be accepted at the Club’s front counter in the lobby. Collected food will be donated to the Food Bank of Northern Nevada for its extensive operations helping the less fortunate throughout the region. Sporting goods will be distributed specifically to agencies that serve children in transition. Donated items are accepted from Noon-6 p.m. from Monday through Friday, March 9.

The “Give Back Like Jack” campaign is a partnership of key northern Nevada organizations that benefited from the generosity of the late Jack Reviglio. Partners include: Bishop Manogue High School, Boys & Girls Club of Truckee Meadows, Catholic Charities of Northern Nevada, Our Lady of the Snows Elementary School and the University of Nevada athletics department. “Give Back Like Jack” encourages people to engage in small daily activities that positively affect a friend, family member, co-worker or even a perfect stranger.

The food and sporting goods drive is one of many events designed to increase acts of kindness in the community in honor of Reviglio. Stories of others’ acts of generosity can be viewed at www.GiveBackLikeJack.org. In addition, a community pep rally and celebration takes place March 24 at the Club, the Saturday following the first official “Jack Reviglio Day” in Washoe County, to commemorate the accomplishments made during the first part of 2012 and to encourage residents to keep the kindness going.
