Production nominated for 11 Tony Awards in 2009 and won the 2010 Pulitzer Prize for Drama
Truckee Meadows Community College’s (TMCC) Visual and Performing Arts Department will perform the acclaimed and powerful rock musical “Next to Normal.” The production is a collaborative effort written by Tom Kitt and Brian Yorkey and highlights a suburban family as it struggles with the effects of mental illness.
Performances will be held at the TMCC Nell J. Redfield Foundation Performing Arts Center on Fifth and Keystone. Tickets are $17 for general, $15 for students and $10 for TMCC students and seniors. Tickets can be purchased for the following performances:

• Saturday, Feb. 25 at 7:30 p.m.
• Friday, March 2 at 7:30 p.m.
• Saturday, March 3 at 7:30 p.m.

“Next to Normal” opened on Broadway in April 2009. The musical was nominated for 11 Tony Awards in 2009 and won three: Best Original Score, Best Orchestration and Best Performance by a leading Actress in a Musical for Alice Ripley. Additionally, “Next to Normal” won the 2010 Pulitzer Prize for Drama making it one of eight musicals to ever receive such an honor.
