March Dining at the Carson Valley Inn

March dining at the Carson Valley Inn includes nightly specials in the newly-remodeled Katie’s Country Kitchen, a variety of dinner entrees plus a new early dining Sunset Menu in CV Steak and quick-stop fare in Job’s Perk.

CV Steak is open from 4:30 p.m. Wednesday through Sunday with a special early dining Sunset Menu served from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. featuring 3-course dinners for $18.  The Inn’s Nevada-style steakhouse offers a selection of tasty appetizers and a generous assortment of entrées including steaks, chops, seafood, chicken and pasta dishes.  CV Steak also has a bountiful and recently enlarged wine list – by the glass or bottle – a specialty drink menu, a dessert menu and a special kid’s menu for children 12 and under.      

All CV Steak entrees include table side-tossed salad and, except for the pasta dishes, also include vegetable and your choice of potato – baked, au gratin or a one-pound, twice-baked potato.  CV Steak offers a combination of price, selection, ambience and service that make casual dinners and special occasions both affordable and memorable. CV Steak reservations are recommended; please call 775-783-6650.

Katie’s Country Kitchen’s recent remodeling project provides a more open and updated look and feel plus a tempting new baked-goods display area!  With the same friendly staff and popular menu, Katie’s continues to offer a wide variety of breakfast, lunch and dinner choices enhanced by an array of appetizers, desserts, ice cream fountain specialties and more.  Fresh-baked cakes and pies are made in house daily and available for purchase at the display case near the Katie’s cashier counter.  Katie’s 24-hour signature special is a $5.99 Hamsteak and Eggs plate (huge!).  There’s also a $4.99 “Loaded Pancakes” special mornings until 11 a.m., a daily $5 lunch special and a different dinner special every day of the week from 2 to 10 p.m.

Mondays in March Katie’s offers a Beef Enchilada and Two Chicken Tacos served with Spanish rice, refried beans and salsa for $5.99. Tuesday is Prime Ribnight in Katie’s with three size choices, each including double-stuffed baked potato, creamed horseradish and choice of soup or salad.  The Half-Pound Prime Rib is $7.99, the Three-Quarter-Pound cut is $10.99 and the One-Pounder is $13.99. 

The Wednesday special is Marinated Roast Pork Loin with herbed rice pilaf, vegetable and choice of soup or salad for $7.99.  Every Thursday in March,Katie’s serves Roast Turkey Breast with mashed potatoes, giblet gravy, stuffing and soup or salad for $7.99. 

March weekends in Katie’s begin on Friday with a Captain’s Platter with breaded shrimp, battered white fish and clam strips – served with cole slaw, French fries, tartar sauce, cocktail sauce and lemon for just $9.99.   On Saturdays in March, Katie’s offers Teriyaki Sirloin Steak with fried rice and soup or salad for $9.99.  “The Chandler” Southern Fried Chicken dinner continues its long run on Sundays and includes mashed potatoes, gravy, coleslaw and a biscuit all for just $5.99.

Job’s Perk opens daily at 6 a.m. and is a convenient spot for morning or midday coffee and pastries, beverages or an afternoon/evening fresh-baked cookie or glass of wine.  Job’s Perk also sells newspapers, basic sundries and CVI-logo apparel.

INN Club members can redeem earned points towards their restaurant checks at the Carson Valley Inn.  Simply swipe your card in Katie’s or Job’s Perk or present your card to the server in CV Steak.

Nevada adopts heat standards, despite some industry push back

After a surge of heat-related workplace injuries in Nevada, state regulators approved a permanent heat stress standard Wednesday to protect the safety and health of indoor and outdoor workers.
