SUBMITTED NEWS RELEASE

Victims of November’s Caughlin Fire can stop by select Starbucks this weekend to receive free native grass seed for their yards.

The Nevada Land Conservancy has teamed up with Starbucks to provide the seed to those affected by the Caughlin Fire at no charge to citizens. The seed was donated to the Nevada Land Conservancy by a grant received by the Nevada Division of Forestry.

Citizens will receive 1/6 acre bags (approximately 7,500 square feet of coverage) of seed and instructions for seeding by hand. Citizens will be asked to provide proof of residence and identification to claim the seed.

There are two pickup locations scheduled for this weekend:

  • Saturday, February 25, 2012 from 8:30am to 11am

Starbucks, 4798 Caughlin Pkwy

  • Sunday, February 26, 2012 from 8:30am to 11am

Starbucks, 6890 S. McCarran Blvd (Lakeside & McCarran)

Nevada Land Conservancy anticipates being able to hold a similar event for the victims of the Washoe Fire at a later date.
