TONOPAH – The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) Battle Mountain District, Tonopah Field Office has been conducting a wild horse gather in the Stone Cabin and Saulsbury Herd Management Areas (HMAs). As part of the Stone Cabin Complex Gather, a trap site adoption will take place on February 18. At this time 11 foals and yearlings will be offered for adoption to qualified individuals through the BLM’s Wild Horse and Burro Adoption Program.
Seven colts and four fillies have been chosen for adoption from the wild horses removed from the range. If there are more interested adopters than 11 foals and yearlings can satisfy, more will be added. Those wishing to adopt can contact the Tonopah Field Office for adoption applications. Applications and holding facilities must be approved in advance of the adoption day. Un-adopted wild horses will be sent to an adoption preparation facility and will be made available for adoption at a later date. The BLM does not sell or send any horses to slaughter.
Public viewing will start at 9:00 a.m., adopting will begin at 10:00 a.m., and will end at 12:00 p.m.
