Pascal Rogé, one of the world’s most famous pianists, will perform with the Reno Chamber Orchestra on Saturday, January 28 at 8:00 p.m. and Sunday, January 29 at 2:00 p.m. at UNR’s Nightingale Concert Hall.
Pascal Rogé has performed in most of the major concert halls in the world and with every major orchestra across the globe. A distinguished and prolific recording artist, Rogé has won many prestigious awards, including two Gramophone Awards, a Grand Prix du Disque and an Edison Award. Several years ago he embarked on a new and ambitious recording project for Onyx called the Rogé Edition, now numbering several volumes. In recent years Rogé has also made frequent festival and concert appearances with his partner Ami Rogé.
His appearance with the Reno Chamber Orchestra marks the third time he has performed in Reno. In 2004 and 2006 he was one of the featured musicians in the Nevada Chamber Music Festival, an annual concert series presented by the Reno Chamber Orchestra.
A specialist in the music of his native France, Mr. Rogé will perform with the Reno Chamber Orchestra the “Egyptian” Piano Concerto No. 5 by Camille Saint-Saëns, in part a document of a trip Saint-Saëns took to Egypt at the end of the nineteenth century.
Also on the program, conducted by RCO music director Theodore Kuchar, are the Persian March by Johann Strauss Jr. and the “Great C Major” Symphony by Franz Schubert. Ticket prices for these concerts range from $20 to $40 for adults, and everyone eighteen and younger (and all full-time students) can attend for $5. Tickets and more information are available at RenoChamberOrchestra.org or by calling (775) 348-9413.
