Matthew Hopkins, a graduate of the University of Nevada Reno, is now Human Resources Operations Manager for the Peppermill Resort Spa Casino.
Hopkins previously worked as Benefits Manager, Risk Manager and Case Manager handling worker’s compensation claims, but cited his desire to work directly with people as part of his decision to join the Peppermill HR team. “I grew up in the Reno/Sparks area. Returning to a locally owned company, known for growth and family values, allowing me the opportunity to work directly with people was exactly the opportunity I hoped for.”
As Human Resources Operations Manager, Hopkins will oversee ongoing company recruitment for the Peppermill, Western Village and the corporate offices.
The Peppermill opened in 1971 as a simple coffee shop and lounge. Forty years later, the Peppermill Resort Spa Casino has become a Reno landmark, sprawling more than two million square feet, featuring 1,635 luxurious rooms and suites, two resort pools, 9 award-winning restaurants, 16 themed bars and lounges including EDGE nightspot and Terrace Lounge, free nightly entertainment in the Cabaret Lounge, 24/7 gaming action, headliner entertainment, as well as the 43,000 square foot Spa & Salon Toscana and fitness center featuring the nation’s only Caldarium with indoor pool, sun deck and Secret Garden.
