Reno Firefighters plan Community Assistance Program fundraiser

Date:

CITY OF RENO NEWS RELEASE

The Garden Shop Nursery and Reno firefighters would like to turn the recent Caughlin Fire tragedy into a positive for the community by having an event/fundraiser.

The fundraiser will be at the Garden Shop Nursery at 3636 Mayberry Drive on Dec. 14 from 4 to 9 p.m. Everyone is invited to attend. The event is free, but donations will be greatly appreciated.

The event will raise money for the Reno Firefighters’ Community Assistance Program. RFFCAP is a non-profit organization established by the professional firefighters in the Reno and Washoe County area that is dedicated to providing financial relief and support to burn victims, fire survivors and their families after a tragedy.

Funds raised by RFFCAP are used to pay for basic needs for individuals or families impacted by fire and other emergencies throughout the year.

The fundraiser is a great opportunity to express thanks and to continue the camaraderie that was demonstrated during the fire. Victims will be able to share their stories with each other and thank neighbors, firefighters and police who helped save homes and lives.

100 percent of the proceeds will be donated to the victims by the Reno Firefighters’ Community Fund.

Gov.r Brian Sandoval, Reno Mayor Bob Cashell, the Reno Fire Chief, Reno City Council, Washoe County commissioners, the Reno Police Department and the Air Guard have been invited to attend.

Western Nevada Supply has generously donated tents, heaters and water for this event. Corporate sponsors are still needed and would be greatly appreciated.

For more information contact Mike Market, president of the Reno Firefighters’ Community Assistance Program, at 775-224-9145 or Teri Bath, Garden Shop Nursery, at 775-813-6505.
