SAF NEWS RELEASE
The Shakespeare Animal Fund, a local group that helps low-income pet owners pay for emergency veterinary care, is asking donors to remember SAF when making year-end giving decisions. As founder Jennifer Webb says, “Give the gift of compassion this season.”
“We have so many stories of animals that desperately need help,” she said. “With your support we can continue to stop the suffering and make a difference in the lives of animals, and their people, in this area.”
The organization receives hundreds of calls for help. Recent cases have included a dog with three broken legs after being hit by a car, a cat that could no longer swallow anything and a poisoned puppy. All were helped by the fund.
In the current economy, SAF has had difficulty responding to all the requests. “Anything that you can afford will help us continue helping,” Webb said. Donations can be made at the SAF site or by mail at P.O. Box 8201, Reno, NV 89507. Checks should be written to “Shakespeare Animal Fund.” SAF is a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organization.
Webb founded SAF after the loss of her beloved cocker spaniel Shakespeare, who died after a very costly illness.
