Live entertainment at the Carson Valley Inn through Dec. 10

MINDEN, Nev. — The Carson Valley Inn features ongoing nightly free live entertainment in the Cabaret Lounge with no cover charge and no drink minimum.  Entertainment hours are Tuesday and Wednesday from 6 to 10 p.m., Thursday from 8 p.m. to midnight and Friday and Saturday from 8 p.m. to 1 a.m.  Live Entertainment gives way to NFL Football on the big screen HDTV Sunday and Monday evenings.

Paul Covarelli, Nov. 15 and 16, Dec. 6 and 7:  Veteran musician Paul Covarelli is a talented guitarist and vocalist. He started the group Jo Mama over 20 years ago and also plays with other groups in the area covering jazz, swing, blues, Latin and more styles.

The Motifs, Nov. 17 – 19:  Featuring brothers and lead vocalists Al and Phil Velasquez, The Motifs have been entertaining Nevada audiences for over 30 years with a variety of music including current hits, ’50s and ’60s medleys, country (old and new), pop, big band hits and some great Salsa songs.  The Motifs have worked every town in Nevada including some of the top casinos in Las Vegas, Tahoe and Reno.  The Motifs captivate their audiences with their great smiles, personality, charm, sincerity, showmanship and professionalism – a combination that creates a fun and feel-good evening!

Sunday Night and Monday Night Football, Through Jan. 1:  HD action on the Cabaret Lounge Big Screen and many of the three dozen flatscreens, $2 draft beer during all NFL games, Football Munchies for sale in the Cabaret Lounge and prize drawings during Monday Night Football.

Jackie Dauzat, Nov. 22 and 23: Jackie Dauzat has been performing in the Reno-Tahoe area for over 30  years. Born in Louisiana, he has been singing since he was 12 years old. Jackie recorded an album with the Cottonwood South band for Columbia records in the early ’70s. He performs songs from artist such as James Taylor, Van Morrison, The Eagles, America and many more.

Tracy Bing, Nov. 24 – 26:  Tracy Bing is a second-generation Native American musician who grew up traveling with her parents’ band. Along with her “dream team” of musicians and entertainers with their high energy antics, she performs a variety of music from Van Halen and The Beatles to Patsy Cline and KT Tunstall.  Tracy is a powerful vocalist with a band that provides perfectly blended harmonies and a big, fat, irresistible sound.

Darcy & January, Nov. 29 – 30: Darcy and January are long-time musicians/entertainers in the Reno area. Darcy is a talented singer stylizing pop, rock, country, jazz and other styles of music. Paul January is always a great joy to listen to, whether on piano, trumpet or vocals. Paul has been playing and singing in multiple genres including jazz, cabaret, casino shows and rock ‘n’ roll.

Highway 4: Dec. 1 – 3: Highway 4 is a Bay Area trio that entertains with a combination of classic rock, country and southern rock. Sam Aeillo (drums/vocals), Jim Ashley (guitar/vocals) and Cris Snyder (bass/vocals) are all former national touring musicians. Jim Ashley, who also plays mandolin and banjo, was band director and lead guitarist for two-time Grammy nominee Tim Murphy.  Cris Snyder was also a member of the Tim Murphy band and occasionally works with Lydia Pense and Cold Blood. Wade Olsen has toured many years with former Starship guitarist Craig Chaquico.

Stew Stewart, Dec. 8: The BB Drifters Review were originally scheduled but had to cancel due to an illness. Stew Stewart will be filling in with his special blend of country music, blues, oldies, comedy, classic rock, Motown and just plain ol’ fun – with a few surprises, too! A Nevada entertainer for over four decades, Stew has appeared at over 100 state and county fairs, many as the opening act for artists such as Johnny Cash, Merle Haggard, Waylon Jennings, Tammy Wynette, Loretta Lynn, Marie Osmond, Herman’s Hermits, The Drifters, The Coasters, Willie Nelson, Kenny Rogers, Dolly Parton, The Oak Ridge Boys and more!

Jammin’ With Jocko And Stew,  Dec. 9 and 10: Jocko, the veteran of THE SHA NA NA TV SHOW, GREASE and WOODSTOCK had such a ball jamming rock & roll and blues with STEW STEWART and his band at the Carson Valley Inn this August, he jumped at the opportunity to do it again. Jocko says, “When Stew invited me back, I said ‘absolutely.’ It was such a good time to let it roll with such great musicians.”  Jocko, now in his fifth decade with Sha Na Na, was the first to walk onstage “greased and ready to rock and roll” in 1969. That same year, at age 19 he appeared with the group at The Woodstock Festival. He holds the distinction of performing in both the most successful music documentary ever (Woodstock) and the most successful rock & roll film musical ever (Grease).

The Carson Valley Inn (www.carsonvalleyinn.com) is located on US Highway 395 in Minden near the start of State Highway 88, 20 minutes from Lake Tahoe’s south shore and 45 minutes south of Reno.  The property includes a recently-remodeled casino and 153-room hotel, 74-room motor lodge, 59-site RV Park, free nightly entertainment in the Cabaret Lounge and a convenience store with Shell gas and diesel fuel.  Three dining facilities include Katie’s, Job’s Perk and CV Steak, a Nevada-style steakhouse featuring steaks, seafood, chicken, pasta and more.
