SUBMITTED NEWS RELEASE

(CARSON CITY, Nev.) – The Carson Valley Inn is serving a Free Spaghetti Lunch for all Veterans and Active Military – plus one guest – on Veteran’s Day, Friday, November 11. The event will be held in the Valley Ballroom from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.   Veterans and active military personnel simply present your military ID for entrance, and lunch for you and your guest is on the Carson Valley Inn!  There will also be a Veteran’s Day colors presentation, the National Anthem and an invocation at 11 a.m. in the Carson Valley Inn parking lot, under the electronic sign on Highway 395.

The spaghetti feed idea began a few months ago when Stew Stewart (CVI Entertainment Director) and Joey Whitacre (CVI Director of Casino Operations and Marketing) were discussing the unique 11-11-11 date for Veteran’s Day this year.  Stew, a Vietnam War Veteran, suggested that the Inn do something special to honor our veterans.  The two agreed that thanking active and past service people for their service to our country was definitely in order.

Stew took the concept to the area military recruiters and also met with the Commander of the Nevada Air National Guard and the Sergeant Major at the Marine Corps Mountain Warfare Training Center. The response from all was so positive that the decision was made to forge ahead!

Stewart offered, “I really hope that the full spectrum of veterans and active military come by on November 11 for the Spaghetti Feed. It’s not really about the food – it’s about service to our country and camaraderie. WWII vets, Vietnam, Korea, peacetime, Iraq, Afghanistan or as-yet-unassigned – we all have many common emotions and feelings – and sharing them across the lines of time is very good!”

The presentation of colors at 11 a.m. will be led by the Douglas High School Junior ROTC Color Guard with accompaniment by representatives of the Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines and Nevada Air National Guard. The National Anthem will be sung by ANG Master Sergeant Rick Hays who, in his non-military hours, leads Rick Hays and American Steel.

The Carson Valley Inn (www.carsonvalleyinn.com) is located on US Highway 395 in Minden, NV near the start of State Highway 88, twenty minutes from Lake Tahoe’s south shore and 45 minutes south of Reno.  The property includes a recently-remodeled casino and 153-room hotel, 74-room motor lodge, 59-site RV Park and a convenience store with Shell gas and diesel fuel.  Three dining facilities include Katie’s, Job’s Perk and CV Steak, a Nevada-style steakhouse featuring steaks, seafood, chicken, pasta and more.
