City of Reno welcomes back two previous employees

The City of Reno is welcoming back two previous employees, Kate Thomas as manager for the Office of Management and Budget and Bill Thomas (no relation) as the director of community development.

Kate Thomas started her new position with the city yesterday. She previously worked for the city of Reno from 2004 until 2007 as assistant to the city manager. In January 2007, she was appointed by Secretary of State Ross Miller as deputy secretary of state and has been overseeing operations for the office including information technology, budget, accounting and personnel divisions.

Kate Thomas received her undergraduate degree from Michigan State University and a Master of Business Administration from the University of Phoenix.

Bill Thomas will begin his employment with the city on November 7. His planning and development career spans more than 27 years. He has served as president of Conrey Consulting, LLC, managing partner for Evans Ranch, LLC, director of entitlements at Pacific West Companies and vice president of Summit Engineering Corporation. He spent many years at the city of Reno in community development, as well as for the city of Cheyenne, Wyoming.

Bill Thomas received a Bachelor of Science degree in urban and regional planning from Pennsylvania State University.
