SUBMITTED NEWS RELEASE

Mammovan returns for the second year

Planned Parenthood Mar Monte hopes to reduce breast cancer incidences and possible deaths in our community by assuring that women who are under-insured or uninsured can gain access to a mammogram for early detection.  For the second year Planned Parenthood is bringing the Nevada Health Center’s Mammovan to it’s patients where the Mammovan will be parked on corner of Ralston and 5th in the parking lot of Nevada Hopes from 7:45 a.m. to 3:15 p.m. on Thursday November 3rd.

Annual exams for women over age 40 are a crucial step in defeating breast cancer. A special grant from the Susan G Komen Foundation provides Planned Parenthood patients access to this vital screening. The Center for Disease Control indicates that mammograms are still the most effective way to detect early signs of breast cancer. When breast cancer is found early, treatment is most effective, and many women go on to lead long and healthy lives.

Patients or new clients can make an appointment for the limited number of screenings. Planned Parenthood offers a sliding scale fee, so payment will be based on income. The educated staff at Planned Parenthood is here for our community and strongly encourages any woman who is interested or has questions to call the health center and gain more information.

To assure your appointment or to gain more information about the Mammovan or any of Planned Parenthoods other preventative care measures please call the health center with any and all questions, 775-688-5555.

Planned Parenthood Mar Monte improves the lives of more than 300,000 people annually in 40 counties in mid-California and in Northern Nevada. We reach people through our medical services, education programs and advocacy initiatives. Our mission is to ensure that every individual has the knowledge, opportunity and freedom to make every child a wanted child and every family a healthy family.
