Boys & Girls Club celebrates 35th Annual Awards Banquet, Nov. 10. with Wonderland-themed evening

“Un-Banquet” Honors Jim DeVolld and Female and Male “Youth of the Year”

The Boys & Girls Club of Truckee Meadows recognizes the community’s best in volunteerism and community support at this year’s Alice in Wonderland-themed 35th annual Awards “Un-Banquet,” Thursday, Nov. 10 at the Silver Legacy Resort Casino. Cocktail service begins at 5 p.m. followed by dinner and program at 6 p.m.

The 35th Annual Awards “Un-Banquet” honors King of Hearts and devoted supporter of local children, Jim DeVolld with the Distinguished Service Award and the event also includes a program featuring Club talent show winners in an Alice in Wonderland-themed performance that takes the stage on and off throughout the night.

Don’t be “late for this very important date” as the night also honors the children who make a difference in the lives of friends and peers by living the Club’s mission each day, leading by example and helping others. One member from each of the Club’s youth and teen centers is set to receive a Member of the Year award, saluting his or her service and guidance among the Club’s 10,000 members. The 2011 Male and Female Youth of the Year awards also are awarded, as well as the Leader in Training Member of the Year Award.

“We are very much looking forward to commemorating the past 35 years of outreach and leadership at the Club during the Annual Awards Banquet,” said Mike Wurm, chief professional officer of the Boys & Girls Club of Truckee Meadows. “We look forward to thanking those who strive to be a positive influence in the lives of children and we’re even more excited about our  Alice in Wonderland twist at this year’s ‘Un-Banquet’.”

The 35th Annual Awards “Un-Banquet” includes hosted cocktails from 5 to 6 p.m. followed by dinner and awards. The Queen of Hearts sponsorship is available for $1,300 and includes a 10-person table and full-page ad, while the $1,200 Mad Hatter sponsor receives a 10-person table and half-page ad.
