“Wild River Grille on the Riverwalk in downtown Reno is pet-friendly and dogs are always welcome on our Riverside patio,” said Valerie Moore of the Wild River Grille. “All dogs visiting the Wild River Grille receive a complementary bowl of water and a special treat.”
The Dinner with your Dog events on the patio at Wild River Grille have become so successful, the restaurant decided to end the season with a Dog-Gone Fancy Costume competition to benefit the Shakespeare Animal Fund of Nevada.
The Shakespeare non-profit was founded following the loss of a beloved Cocker Spaniel named, “Shakespeare” who died after a costly illness. It was in his memory the fund was established to help others who might face financial problems while trying to save their pet.
In 2010 the Shakespeare Animal Fund paid out more than $250,000 in the Northern Nevada Area to help cover costs for sick and injured pets. The organization, with the help of volunteers is able to provide emergency food and medical supplies to animals in need and help 150 to 200 pet owners each month.
The Shakespeare Animal Fund has come to depend on the support of the community and events such as the “Dinner with your Dog” events at Wild River Grille.
It costs $30 to enter the Dog-Gone Fancy Costume Contest. Entry fees will provide a $20 dining credit at the restaurant and a $10 contribution to the Shakespeare Animal Fund.
Cute, fancy, bizarre or outrageous, all pet costumes are welcome for the competition. We know wearing a costume can sometimes cause your companions to act like animals – but Wild River Grille is prepared. All friendly dogs are welcome.
