SUBMITTED NEWS RELEASE

The Reno Air Racing Association extends its most sincere heartfelt condolences and sympathies to all of those affected by yesterday’s tragic events. We have always considered the pilots, performers, sponsors, vendors, volunteers, staff and, most importantly, our fans to be one family. We are working and will continue to work to do whatever we can to console and help our family.

The memorial originally scheduled at 1 p.m. PT by the Leeward family has been cancelled and the Reno Air Racing Association is planning a public memorial to be held in the near future. We are working to release details in the next 24 hours.

The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) has taken the lead on all aspects of the accident and has a communications team en route to the Reno-Stead Airfield. The Reno Air Racing Association will work with this team to coordinate additional press updates or a press conference. At this time, we do not have any additional press conferences scheduled.

Those wishing to check on the status of loved ones should call 775.337.5800 or locally dialing 211.
