SUBMITTED NEWS RELEASE

It’s back-to-school time and Mill Street Tire wants teen drivers to make it to and from campus safely, and be prepared in the event tire trouble occurs. Mill Street Tire expert, Lisa Smith, will host a free Tire Changing and Safety Clinic on Saturday, September 10th at 2pm at Mill Street Tire, located at 3180 Mill Street in Reno. Teen drivers, including those who are applying for or already have their driver’s permit, are encouraged to participate along with their parents.

“With the start of the school year right around the corner, we parents are reminded of our kids’ independence as they commute back and forth to school and extracurricular activities and there’s always that concern that they arrive safely to their destination,” said Patty Miranda, Owner of Mill Street Tire and mother of two. “With Driver’s Education cut from classrooms, I feel there is a great need to teach our teen drivers about tire safety and give them the tools to prevent, and if need be get themselves out of, a flat tire situation.”

  • In addition to learning how to change a tire, participants will also gain knowledge about:
  • Tire wear – examples of real tires worn improperly and the need for rotation and balancing
  • Emergency kit – what’s in it, what it’s used for and how to use it
  • Tire pressure – tools used for checking tire pressure and examples of how to check it
  • Advantages of nitrogen

How to check all vehicle fluids
