SUNDANCE NEWS RELEASE

What: Local author Ace Remas signs and discusses his novel Precious Time.

Where: Sundance Books and Music, 121 California Avenue, Reno.

When: Saturday, Sept. 24, 1:30 p.m. – 3 p.m.

Book Description: With a handshake, young Harry unwittingly makes a solemn pact with 82-year-old Joe White. Harry stumbles along, sometimes at Joe’s command, sometimes out of his own innocent initiative. What unfolds is an amazing novel of energy, pluck and reckless sincerity.

Nevada ranchers Joe White and his life-long friend Bill Henderson set out to finish a project they had started 20 years ago. Now old and frail, both rely on the youth of Annie and Harry, who meet in a bank when Joe withdraws his life savings. The sheriff, the families of Joe and Bill, and a determined businesswoman in Reno try to dissuade Joe and, when unsuccessful, obstruct Joe and his young helpers. Humble and uncertain, and in the face of impossible odds, Harry’s simple faith in the aspirations of an old man nevertheless leads to realizations beyond anyone’s expectations.

About Ace Remas: Raised in northwestern Nevada, the locale featured in his novel Precious Time, Ace Remas met the people, listened to their dreams, and understood the hopes that inspired this story. Although completely a work of fiction, the novel rings true to the hardy Nevada spirit. With his wife Marsha, Ace Remas splits his time between his homes in Reno, Nevada and Marin County, Calif., where he was the publisher of the local community newspaper, “The Twin Cities Times.”

Since opening its doors in 1985, Sundance Books and Music has been dedicated to the service of books and book lovers. As a local, independent bookstore, Sundance is committed to strengthening and contributing to both our local and global communities.
