Teens can gain community service and retail marketing experience through The Summit’s teen advisory board

The Summit lifestyle center located in south Reno is now accepting applications for their first SummitUP Teen Advisory Board. This exciting opportunity gives students who have a passion for community service and the retail and fashion industry the chance to team up with other students to head The Summit’s teen initiatives.

“We are excited to offer students this one of a kind experience in fashion and community service,” said Alexia Bratiotis, area marketing manager for The Summit. “The Teen Advisory Board will give these students an opportunity to meet and work with like-minded teens while gaining insights into the fashion and retail industry.”

The Summit is looking for 12 young men and women between the ages of 14 and 18 who are committed to helping others in the community and are interested in learning about retail and fashion through event support and programs happening at The Summit. Through the SUMMITUP Teen Board, teens can expect to become involved in numerous charitable activities with a variety of non-profit organizations in an effort to show that teens can make a positive impact. They will also be a part of events such as Fashion Camp, Style 101, Lights Up, Personal Shopper program/events, fashion shows and community partnership events. Students who participate in the SUMMITUP Teen Board can receive credit towards community service hours needed for extra-curricular activities at school.

In order to apply for the board, students must be between the ages of 14 and 18 and be in good standing at their school and must provide evidence through their application that they are dependable, creative, insightful and detailed. The application includes a 250 word essay and two letters of recommendation from individuals other than the students’ parents. The SUMMITUP Teen Advisory Board is an eleven month commitment from October 2011 through August 2012. Applications must be received no later than Friday, September 16 at 6 p.m. at the Guest Services Office at The Summit.
