BALLOON RACE NEWS RELEASE

Pete Copeland

Pete Copeland was named Executive Director today for The Great Reno Balloon Race by the event’s Board of Trustees. Serving as a volunteer and a Trustee this year, Copeland has made great strides in helping the event become more financially secure through soliciting new sponsorships and creating new revenue opportunities.

“I’m so excited to begin a new challenge and use my skills to make The Balloon Race even better than the past 30 years have been,” Copeland said. “This is a trademark event in our community, and I’m looking forward to being a part of the incredible team that makes it happen.”

Copeland, who was publisher and one of the founders of Northern Nevada Business Weekly, will join Event Coordinator Tasha Courtney as the operations staff for the Balloon Race, starting Oct. 1, 2011.

“Pete is going to make a great Executive Director,” Pilar Aldecoaotalora, President of the Balloon Race Board, said. “His vision and leadership have already helped this event so much and the Board is really looking forward to all he has to bring.”

The Great Reno Balloon Race celebrates its 30th year of flight this Sept. 9 – 11. Visit www.renoballoon.com for more information.

Thanks to the continued support of generous sponsors, The Great Reno Balloon Race continues as the nation’s largest free hot-air ballooning event for its 30th year.
