SUBMITTED NEWS RELEASE

Mark W. Crawford, CEO of Northern Nevada Medical Center, and Don Johnston, chair of the Northern Nevada Medical Center Board of Governors, recently were named Healthcare Heroes by Nevada Business Magazine.

Crawford was honored for leading Northern Nevada Medical Center to many accomplishments during his four years at the helm. During that time NNMC has opened its Heart and Vascular Institute, Northern Nevada Medical Group, the Inpatient Rehab Center, and the Rehabilitation and Sports Medicine Center. NNMC also has achieved Accredited Chest Pain Center status granted by the Society of Chest Pain Centers. NNMC also remains the first and only hospital in Nevada performing MAKOplasty® robotics-assisted partial knee resurfacing.

Johnston not only has chaired the Board of Governors for nine years, he has put in more than 1,500 hours as a hospital volunteer for more than five years. In his volunteer role, Johnston leads NNMC’s health fairs, low-cost health screenings and flu shot clinics.

The Healthcare Heroes program, developed as a partnership by Nevada Business Magazine and Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield, donates scholarship funds to Nevada schools, to benefit those who want to pursue a degree in healthcare education. It also honors healthcare professionals who have dedicated their careers to promoting the future of healthcare in the Silver State.
