SUBMITTED NEWS RELEASE
Ken Thomas, M.D. is the first Orthopaedic Trauma Fellow to graduate from a fellowship program designed by Reno Orthopaedic Clinic (ROC) and implemented at Renown Regional Medical Center.
ROC offers the one-year clinical fellowship in orthopaedic trauma surgery under the supervision of the orthopaedic traumatologists at Renown Regional Medical Center: Tim Bray, MD; Timothy O’Mara, MD and Pete Althausen, MD. The fellowship program combines clinical instruction and surgical training with a business curriculum that includes rotations with hospital executives and clinical staff. The curriculum focuses on such topics as strategic planning, regulatory requirements, stewardship and quality initiatives.
This fellowship is approved by the Orthopaedic Trauma Association and is unique in the country because of the business curriculum.
Dr. Thomas earned his doctorate in medicine from the University of Colorado in Denver in 2005. Dr. Thomas will be going to Anchorage, Alaska, to become the Orthopedic Traumatologist at Alaska Native Medical Center.
The fellowship program at Renown Regional continues next with Justin Kauk, MD, who begins today, Aug. 1.
