Deputies arrest burglary suspect

The Washoe County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to a residence in the 13500 block of Gold Run Drive in Reno, Nevada (Virginia Foothills area) on a report of a burglary. The victim reported the loss of an electronic device, a power tool, checks, and recreational equipment. The victim also had proof from their personal bank that three checks had been forged. The victim was able to provide an adequate amount of suspect information to aid in the investigation. The possible suspect was identified as Erik Kelly (Bk#11-14019).

At approximately 4:26pm on August 11th, Deputies located Kelly at a local casino. Kelly was in possession of several pawn slips, matching the property previously reported stolen from the Gold Run Drive residence. Kelly was arrested and transported to the Washoe County Detention Facility, where he was booked on two counts of Burglary, two counts of Grand Larceny, four counts of Possession of Stolen Property (3 Felony and 1 Misdemeanor count), three counts of Forgery, three counts of Obtaining Money under False Pretenses, and three counts of Uttering a Forged Instrument. Kelly’s bail is set at $43,140.
