SUBMITTED NEWS RELEASE

The Great Reno Balloon Race is heading into its 30th year and there is no better way of getting up close and personal with the event than to join the Aeronauts, the official volunteer group for the Balloon Race. Now is the time to register to volunteer for this year’s event, taking place Sept. 9 – 11 at Rancho San Rafael Regional Park near downtown Reno.

As official Balloon Race Aeronauts, volunteers are trained in crewing hot-air balloons and get to serve on chase crews during the event. In addition, Aeronauts also help with security, setting up and breaking down the field, all while learning about one of the community’s most treasured non-profit, community events.

Volunteering for any amount of time with the Aeronauts is valuable which is why they offer a number of different shifts to fit your schedule, ranging from four to six hours in length. In order to ensure that the team is ready for September, interested volunteers must attend the next two meetings:

  • Wednesday, Aug. 17 at 5:30 p.m. at the Nevada Air National Guard SANGA Club
  • Wednesday, Sept. 7 at 5:30 p.m. at Rancho San Rafael Regional Park

To become an Aeronaut or to learn more about volunteer opportunities, including applications and shift times, please visit www.renoballoon.com or call (775) 826-1181.

Thanks to the continued support of generous sponsors, The Great Reno Balloon Race continues as the nation’s largest free hot-air ballooning event for its 30th year.
