SUBMITTED NEWS RELEASE

The Associated Students of the University of Nevada welcomes students to campus this fall with a week-long series of events, including a concert with the band, Macklemore, and MTV comedian, K-Von

From Aug. 28 through Sept. 4, the Associated Students of the University of Nevada (ASUN) will offer a week of events to welcome students back to campus and encourage them to be involved with all of the opportunities it provides.

Welcome Week, an annual week-long production at the University of Nevada, Reno, is hosted by ASUN’s department of programming, Flipside Productions. Huili Weinstock, director of programming for Flipside Productions, hopes the week will set the stage for students’ academic success while helping them to socialize.

“Welcome Week is a chance for students to get together and get excited for the upcoming academic year,” Weinstock said. “This week sets the ‘abnormal’ lifestyle, the culture of college, the nightlife for students…there’s always something to do here on campus.”

This year’s most anticipated event is the Macklemore and Ryan Lewis concert, to take place on Monday, Aug. 29 at 8 p.m. The event is open to the public, and tickets will be $2 for students and $5 for the community. K-Von, University alumnus and comedian on MTV’s “Disaster Date,” will be on campus to entertain students and the community 7-8 p.m. in the Joe Crowley Student Union.

Welcome Week is open to all students, faculty and staff. For event details on this year’s Welcome Week, contact Huili Weinstock at [email protected] or go to http://www.nevadaasun.com/get-involved/events.html.
