Final results are in from the region and United Way of Northern Nevada and the Sierra (UWNNS) has announced the top 25 contributing northern Nevada companies that conducted workplace giving campaigns to assist the nonprofit. These 25 companies, along with many more contributing organizations and individuals, helped UWNNS reach 105 percent of its annual giving goal of $1.7 million in the campaign that ran from Feb. 28, 2010 until Feb. 27, 2011.
“Despite our current economic environment, our community continues to have caring and generous companies and people who understands the importance of United Way,” said Paul Dugan, chair of the UWNNS Board of Directors. “It is because of these organizations and their employees that we have been able to exceed our fundraising goal which will in turn help us create lasting change in our community.”
The top 25 companies that participated in the employee giving campaign to help reach this goal include (in order): UPS, NV Energy, Wells Fargo, GE Energy, Washoe County Employees, AT&T, U. S. Bank, J. C. Penney Company, Southwest Gas, John Ascuaga’s Nugget, Costco, Enterprise, Scheels, University of Nevada, Reno, Scolari’s Food and Drug Company, State of Nevada, Walmart, Bank of America, Macy’s, FedEx, Renown Health, Reno-Tahoe Airport Authority, Regional Transportation Commission of Washoe County, Target and Nevada State Bank.
“The region has faced tough challenges over the past few years. We have appreciated the continued generosity of individuals and organizations that work together with United Way to help provide for the needs of the community,” said Karen Barsell, chief executive officer and president of UWNNS.
