CARSON CITY – Governor Brian Sandoval today announced he has appointed five commissioners to the Board of Wildlife and named Ken Mayer as director of the Department of Wildlife.
Sandoval has appointed Jeremy Drew, David McNinch and Jack Robb as commissioners. He has also reappointed Michael McBeath and Grant Wallace.
“Each of these individuals brings with them a background in the wildlife field as well as the respect of their colleagues,” Sandoval said. “I am pleased they have all agreed to help Nevada’s Department of Wildlife focus on the restoration and management of fish and wildlife resources, and the promotion of boating safety on Nevada’s waters.”
Drew, currently a resource specialist with Resource Concepts, Inc., holds a B.S. in Civil Engineering and Environmental Resource Science from the University of Nevada, Reno. Drew has worked previously with the Division of Wildlife as a conservation aid I, II and III. He is president of the Northern Nevada Chapter of Safari Club International and serves as director of the Coalition for Nevada’s Wildlife, Inc. Drew will hold a sportsmen seat.
McNinch is an environmental health specialist supervisor with the Washoe County Health District. A graduate of the University of Nevada, Reno, McNinch holds a B.S. in Renewable Natural Resources. He is also a member of the Lahontan Audubon Society. McNinch will hold the seat related to conservation.
Robb, currently owner/president of Pacific Meter Service, is a native Nevadan. Robb holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Nevada, Reno and has a Nevada contractor’s license. An avid outdoorsman, Robb grew up in Tonopah. Robb will hold a sportsmen seat.
Currently a commissioner, Michael McBeath has been reappointed. A graduate of the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, McBeath holds a J.D. from the University of Denver College of Law. Currently an assistant vice president at MGM Resorts in Las Vegas, McBeath is a certified public accountant and an attorney. McBeath continues to hold a sportsmen seat.
Grant Wallace has also been reappointed to a term as commissioner. A magna cum laude graduate of California Polytechnic State University, Wallace is a resident of Dyer, Nevada. He is a self-employed farmer and is a member of the Esmeralda County Public Land Use Committee and the Farm Bureau. Wallace will continue to hold a seat related to farming.
Sandoval also announced today Ken Mayer has formally been named director at the Department of Wildlife. Mayer had been serving as acting director since Sandoval took office.
