Lueders named BLM state director

Bureau of Land Management Director Bob Abbey announced today that Amy Lueders has been selected as the BLM’s new Nevada State Office Director. Lueders, who is currently acting Director of the Nevada State Office, will report to her new position on August 1.

“I am delighted to announce the selection of Amy Lueders,” said Abbey. “Amy brings myriad talents and a wealth of experience to one of the most demanding positions in the BLM.”

Lueders said, “I look forward to serving in this position at a critical time in the BLM’s history. Working with our diverse stakeholders, we will ensure the productivity and health of the public lands that are so vital to Nevada and the nation, both environmentally and economically.”

Lueders served as the BLM’s Nevada Associate State Director from 2004 to 2010. A graduate of Duke University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics, Lueders began her BLM career in 1984 at the BLM’s Washington, D.C., office as an economist. She later held a number of budget development and program analysis positions. Prior to coming to BLM-Nevada, Lueders served as the BLM’s field manager in Las Cruces, N.M.

Lueders and her husband Greg have two children, Matthew and Nathan. Lueders is an outdoors enthusiast who enjoys athletic activities.
