Unity – Temple of Transition Fundraiser

The International Arts Megacrew with local artist groups the Salvagery and Osiris, will host “Unity” a block rocking fundraiser for the Temple of Transition, the official Temple for Burning Man 2011.

The event will be held at the historic Hobson Square, home of the Salvagery Artist Collective, at 900 E. Fourth Street in Reno, build site for the Temple of Transition, on July 9, 2011 from 6:00 p.m. until midnight.

“The event is the only one of its kind ever hosted at this unique, historic location,” said Diarmaid “Irish” Horkan, co-leader of the Temple of Transition project. “We are excited to be a part of the Fourth Street revival by bring here not only the Temple project but the party of a lifetime.”

The “Unity” event features a range of entertainment including Controlled Burn, Bohemian Burlesque, BoHo Hoops, Bonestar, Dragonfly Aerialists, Spoken Views, DJ’ed beats by DJ D6 and many more.

In addition to the entertainment, the event proudly displays art projects like Nefarious Grin’s Fire Garden, The Pier and the Osiris Pyramid. The Hobson Gallery, also located on the property, presents the Salvagery Arts Show and Auction. The 1st anniversary of RePiano, an ARTOWN event, will also be celebrated.

Those in attendance will be treated to a costume workshop by Dusty Couture, popcorn from the Popcorn Palace as well as enjoy art cars including Big Dale’s Giant Big Head, the Jungle Buggy and Jungle Bus, the Red Rooster and others.

Tickets for the “Unity” event are $20 and available at Prism Magic, the Melting Pot World Emporium, online at https://www.brownpapertickets.com/event/173607 or at the door. Fundraising events to help raise additional support for the Temple of Transition project are being held around the globe.

Made of wood, the Temple of Transition will take the form of a 120-foot tiered, hexagonal central tower, surrounded by five 58-foot tiered, hexagonal towers.
