SUBMITTED NEWS RELEASE

The following statement was made today by Dennis Jacobsen, president, IAFF Local 731:

In an overwhelming show of support, the members of the Reno Firefighters Association, Local 731, have ratified the Tentative Agreement with the City of Reno. This action, once accepted by the Reno City Council in special session on Wednesday, will place into effect Contract(s) for Fiscal years 2010/2011 and 2011 through 2013. The new contract includes an additional 7.5 percent overall reduction in firefighter salaries and benefits. In conjunction with these financial savings, this agreement will return some previously laid off fire fighters to service through the City’s acceptance of the Federal SAFER Grant. This will provide a solid foundation for the City Council and Fire Fighters to better serve the citizens of Reno and the Truckee Meadows.
Said Dennis Jacobsen, President of IAFF Local 731.
