Saint Mary’s Fitness Center launches new Medical Exercise Program

Exercise has long been associated with improved health outcomes, especially for those with existing medical conditions. To emphasize the importance of exercise on wellness, Saint Mary’s Center for Health and Fitness will offer the region’s first comprehensive Medical Exercise Program. The program will provide participants with support and education to enhance vitality and overall health.

“This new program will provide individuals with resources to better manage their health conditions. Participants will follow a customized diet and exercise plan that is designed to relieve symptoms associated with their specific condition,” said Joseph Brandl, MD, director of cardiac surgery for Saint Mary’s Regional Medical Center. “Incorporating a diet and fitness routine post-rehab has proven highly beneficial and we look forward to offering this program to the community.”

Developed by a team of medical and fitness professionals, the Medical Exercise Program features effective and integrative strategies that produce significant changes in health, behavior and function. The program will offer condition-specific tracks, including cancer rehabilitation, cardiac fitness, pre- and post-natal fitness, general medical exercise and weight loss management. Each track is designed to meet the medical needs of participants who have completed rehab therapy or community members who seek a fitness routine for an underlying health condition.

Ideal candidates for the program include those who do not exercise regularly, desire support for encouragement and accountability, have one or more medical risk factors and have prior medical conditions. Additionally, participants will receive a comprehensive health profile updated throughout the series, as well as education and support from personal trainers, nutritional guidance, and access to a private workout facility with state-of-the art equipment.

“Managing a health condition is challenging, but with this new program, participants will find they can incorporate a healthy lifestyle long after traditional therapies,” said Brandl.

Saint Mary’s Medical Exercise Program provides a high level of support and direction for those interested in enhancing their quality of life. For membership information and rates, visit www.SaintMarysFitness.com or call 770-3800.
