Wild Horse Drive and The Sturdy Beggars take stage this Thursday at 7 p.m.
(SPARKS, Nev.) – Victorian Square Summer’s popular “Thursday Nights on the Square” continues rocking this Thursday, June 30 when bands Wild Horse Drive and The Sturdy Beggars take the stage at 7 p.m. outside Cantina Los Tres Hombres and Great Basin Brewing Co. Thursday Nights on the Square takes place every Thursday night from 5-10 p.m. throughout the summer and features two live bands, vendors and activities designed to create a festive atmosphere and raise money for the Food Bank of Northern Nevada. Vendor space is available now on a first come, first serve basis by calling 775-784-9400, ext. 117.
Offering some of the best varieties of food from around town, the June 30 Thursday Night on the Square features Chinese food from Koko’s Teriyaki, refreshing smoothies from Jamba Juice, a kettle corn vendor to satisfy the sweet tooth and a lemonade booth to wash it all down. Visit the square the following week on Thursday, July 7 to enjoy a variety of savory sandwiches from the well-known GourMelt Grilled Cheese Truck.
Spectators can also visit an assortment of vendor booths that range from clothing and sunglasses to activities such as Reno Indoor Paintball. In addition to the food and shopping, make a splash this Thursday with the on-site dunk tank with all proceeds benefiting charity. Starting next Thursday, July 7, pocket $50 while also raising money for the charity with the new Chicken Plop Drop at Great Basin Brewing Co. Numbers are drawn multiple times throughout the night and the participant with the winning number receives $50 while $50 also goes to support the Food Bank of Northern Nevada.
“The event has been a lot of fun for us so far and we’re so happy that it’s growing to include more vendors, more activities, and even events that help raise money for charity,” said Bonda Young of Great Basin Brewing Co. “The bands have been a great draw and the spectators are having a blast dancing and mingling on the Square. We look forward to watching it continue to grow.”
The lineup is set for the rest of the summer and includes Dead Winter Carpenters and Whitney Meyer Band Thursday, July 7 followed by Blues Monsters and James Cavanaugh and the Charm of Hugo July 14. Wrapping up the month of July are bands Tracorum and Soul Serene on the 21st and Ditch the Pilot and STC on July 28. The Mark Sexton Band and Big Remote ring in the month of August, followed by a break in the action for Hot August Nights. Thursday Nights on the Square returns for the last time on Aug.18 with Guitar Woody & The Boilers playing on the Great Basin stage and a band yet to be determined on the stage at the Cantina.
