SUBMITTED STATEMENT

“It was welcome news to hear that our military has brought Osama bin Laden to justice.

“The memory of where we were on September 11th is still sharp in our minds, and for me the tragedy was amplified because of the hundreds of people I happened to be with on the morning of the attacks.  I was at a National Association of State Treasurers conference with state treasurers and many New Yorkers – including the State Treasurer of New York, who had offices and staff in the World Trade Center, as well as many Wall Street colleagues.  My heart goes out to the family and friends of all who were killed in the attack, and I hope today’s news provides some comfort.

“I also salute the members of the Nevada National Guard and the active duty men and women who are currently overseas and have contributed so much in defense of our nation.  Nevadans have been at the front lines in support of the Global War on Terrorism, and on behalf of all Nevadans we are thankful for their bravery and the sacrifices they and their families have made to keep us safe and free.”
