SUBMITTED NEWS RELEASE

WHAT: Renown Institute for Neurosciences and Disability Resources are proud to be presenting sponsors of Insight Lectures: An evening with the dynamic Jill Bolte Taylor, Ph.D.

WHEN: Wednesday, April 20, 2011, 7 – 9 p.m.

WHERE: Pioneer Center for the Performing Arts, 100 S. Virginia St., Reno, Nev.

DETAILS: Dr. Jill Bolte Taylor is a Harvard-trained and published neuroanatomist who experienced a severe hemorrhage in the left hemisphere of her brain in 1996. It took her eight years of intense work to recover. She is the author of the New York Times bestselling memoir “My Stroke of Insight: A Brain Scientist’s Personal Journey.” In 2008, she gave a TED talk, which has become one of the most viewed TED Talks to date.

Chosen as one of TIME Magazine’s 100 Most Influential People in the World for 2008, Dr. Jill has appeared on Oprah’s Soul Series and is the National Spokesperson for the Harvard Brain Tissue Resource Center.

Through her writings and lectures, Dr. Bolte Taylor has done more, perhaps, than anyone else to explain a stroke. May is national stroke awareness month, and this lecture provides a great opportunity for the community to learn about the signs and symptoms of stroke and to find out about its impact on millions of lives.

COST: Admission is $25, $45 & $65. Senior and Student discount for $18.
