SUBMITTED NEWS RELEASE

Reno, Nevada. April 8, 2011. Washoe County’s Department of Water Resources invites citizens living in the Mt. Rose/Callahan-Galena area to participate in a virtual community forum about possible recommendations to the Board of County Commissioners concerning an on-going water issue in that part of the unincorporated county. Your input can enhance the final outcomes of the domestic well mitigation program for the Mt. Rose/Callahan-Galena Fan area.

The Department of Water Resources staff hosted a public workshop last month on this issue, and is hosting a second on May 3rd from 5:30 pm to 8 pm at the Department’s Community Meeting Room located at their offices at 4930 Energy Way to discuss various options for addressing adverse affects of municipal well pumping on the capacity of private wells in the Mt. Rose/Callahan area. To receive even more public input, though, the county is also hosting an online forum to receive input from affected citizens. Specifically, we want to know:

What you think is important for staff to consider when making recommendations to the Board on this issue?

To provide your comment on line, please visit the county’s website at www.washoecounty.us/index/feedback.html and click on the “read more” link under the photo featuring this topic.
