Statement from the Governor’s Office on today’s Senate Revenue Committee hearing

“In a presentation to the Legislature this afternoon, the Nevada Department of Taxation will report that collections from the net proceeds of mines tax for Fiscal Year 2011 have exceeded projections by $10 million. The funds will be allocated to the 2012-13 budget.

‘This is just one example of how the budget process will continue to provide new information between now and the time the next biennial budget is closed in May,’ said State Budget Director Andrew Clinger. ‘Governor Sandoval has directed these funds be set aside for education, so when all the final numbers are reconciled the amended budget will reflect that priority.’”
