Community WellCheck- April 9 and 22
Saint Mary’s monthly Community WellCheck offers a wide variety of affordable health screenings and immunizations to help identify potential health risks. All screenings are held from 7 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. at Saint Mary’s Center for Health, at 645 N. Arlington, 3rd floor. Cost varies. To schedule an appointment call 770-7100.
Stroll-N-Roll for Children’s Health – April 16
Immunize Nevada and The Summit are teaming up to bring the Stroll-N-Roll for Children’s Health to northern Nevada. The walk will raise awareness for children’s healthcare issues, focusing on preventive healthcare and childhood immunizations. The event will be held on Saturday, April 16 at The Summit at 13925 S. Virginia Street. Pre-register before Friday, April 15 for only $8 and children under 12 are free. All registered participants will receive a $5 gift card to The Summit on walk day. FREE Chronic Disease Management Class Series – Begins April 19
If you are 55 or older and have arthritis, heart or lung problems, high blood pressure, cancer or other chronic conditions, our free six-week class is for you. During the program, you will learn how to manage your chronic disease through exercise techniques, community resources, setting goals, and knowledge on how to optimize your relationship with your physician. Classes will take place every Tuesday beginning on April 19 through May 24 from 1 to 3:30 p.m. at Access to Healthcare Network at 4001 S. Virginia Street, Suite F in Reno (located in Reno Town Mall). Breathe Easy Tobacco Cessation Program – Starts April 20
If you are interested in quitting smoking, Saint Mary’s Breathe Easy Tobacco Cessation program is for you. Beginning on Wednesday April 20 and ending on May 18, a licensed tobacco specialist will provide participants with the tools they need to quit smoking. Classes are held every Wednesday from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at Saint Mary’s Health Enhancement at 1625 East Prater Way in Sparks. The cost of the class is $95. Saint Mary’s Vascular Screening – April 20
Heart attack and stroke, caused by a build-up of fatty plaque in the walls of arteries, are leading causes of death and disability. Risk factors for vascular disease include diabetes, smoking, high blood pressure, abnormal cholesterol, family history and age. For $120, lower your risk for vascular disease by getting screened on Wednesday, April 20. Call 770-7600 for location and to schedule your appointment.
Hands-on Grocery Store Tour only $10 – April 21
Saint Mary’s team of registered dietitians is offering a hands-on Grocery Store Tour on Thursday, April 21 from 6-7 p.m. at Scolari’s at 1300 Disc Drive in Sparks. Tours will provide participants with budget-wise shopping tips that can be used to purchase healthy, nutritional foods. The cost of the tour is only $10. To register, call 770-7100.
Pre/Post Natal Exercise Program – Weekly classes offered
If you are looking to stay active during your pregnancy and get back into shape post- baby, this exercise program is for you. It is designed to prepare your body for the physical demands of pregnancy and childbirth and help you get back in shape afterwards. Fitness activities will include low impact cardiovascular workouts, stretching and strengthening exercises, and relaxation routines. Join us for the following classes, offered weekly. Cost varies. - Wonderbelly Workout – Monday and Wednesday from 10:15 am to 11:00 am
- Moms-on-the-go-H2O – Tuesday and Thursday from 12:15 pm to 12:45 pm

Cardiac Fitness Program – Weekly classes offered
Saint Mary’s Fitness Center is offering a supervised exercise program designed to help you learn how to self-manage your cardiovascular health. It is designed for those with known risk factors, for anyone with an existing or potential heart problem, or for those who are de-conditioned and would like to carefully improve their level of cardiovascular fitness. Classes are held every Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 9 am to 10:30 am. Cost varies. To register, call Saint Mary’s Center for Health and Fitness at 770-3800.
Cancer Rehabilitation Program – Classes every Tuesday and Thursday
This program is designed at enhancing the wellbeing of current cancer patients and those in remission. The focus of the program is creating a routine that focuses on wellness instead of illness. Do you know an outstanding WCSD teacher, employee or student? If so, nominate them for a Saint Mary’s Quality in Education award.
