Nevada Guard Lakota helicopters on display Friday

CARSON CITY – The Nevada Army Guard’s two new Lakota helicopters will be officially welcomed to the Nevada Guard’s aviation fleet Friday (April 1). Media are welcome at the Army Aviation Support Facility that day to attend the Lakotas’ unveiling ceremony and examine the newest military rotary aircraft in the state. The orientation flight for the media outlets who responded to an initial query several weeks ago will also occur Friday.

WHAT: Two new Nevada Army Guard LUH-72 Lakota helicopters

WHO:  Nevada Guard Aviation officials and pilots will be available to comment on the new aircraft

WHERE: Army Aviation Support Facility, 20,000 Army Aviation Drive, Reno (adjacent to the Reno-Stead Airport)

WHEN: Friday, April 1. A short ceremony is set for 9 a.m. and the media orientation flight is set for 10 a.m. Flight briefings will begin about 9:30 a.m. Media are welcome at the facility any time after 8:15 a.m.

MEDIA: Welcome to attend. Please bring federal or state identification to expedite entry at the gate.

Media not previously approved to fly are welcome tour the aircraft while they are on the ground. A demonstration river rescue featuring the Lakotas is also set to occur.
